I’ve had a Bitwarden account for about 4 years, with about a thousand assorted logins, notes and identities.
Pros:
I like the “Organizations” methodology of sharing, since a user account can belong to multiple orgs.
Recently shipped inline autofill
Excellent integration with masked email providers like Fastmail
Open source
Cons:
Slow to catch up on other features e.g. SSH keys or passkeys
Does not export attachments, making porting out a big hassle
Desktop UI lacking essentials like bulk processing and sorting
1Password
Given the list of cons, I spent the week moving to 1Password:
Pros:
Very good iOS experience, with passkeys and inline autofill
Good sharing experience for individual items
Cons:
Fastmail masked email integration only works with inline autofill, not in the extension popup or apps
Family/group sharing is a bit awkward, if you are in multiple groups, that means you need to create multiple accounts
I’m personally not a huge fan of the secret key. But I understand why they do it: if I understand correctly, an email + secret key is a unique account
Conclusion
Overall, I’m pretty happy with my choice to move to 1Password. Seeing the App Store reviews, 1Password 8 is divisive, but I think its UX and feature set is superior to Bitwarden. I do hope they improve their masked email integration in the future though.
